Jake's Food Drive

I have to admit I wasn't too excited about all the things Jake had to do for this merit badge clinic he's been going to every Saturday morning.  It's more homework than school!  One of things he had to do was pick a local charity and put in 8 hours of service.  It's hard to find something that an 11 year old can do.  So finally he picked the Central Kitsap Food Bank, I told him they always need more food.  He made up signs telling what he was doing, and we dropped them off to neighbors and friends houses on Tuesday.  Then on Thursday we drove around and he picked up the bags that people had left on their porches.   Friday morning he weighed it all, over 200 lbs of food!  We took it down to the food bank, and they let him help sort it and put the food away on the shelves!  I didn't think they'd let him since he's so young.  He was able to see some families come through and pick out food.  It ended up being a great experience for him.  I guess I should be more positive toward this scouting stuff!

Good job Jake!

Finally, Allie's Rose

Finally, after YEARS (as Allie says) of waiting, her name was on the Flowers To Go sign!  Ramona called us while we were at gymnastics and let us know, so we hurried down before it closed.  She was so excited!

The simple pleasures of life....

High Score King (for now)

But while Charley was gloating and eating a peanut butter cookie....

Jake went in and crushed his record, getting 90 points in 60 seconds.  Go Jake!

Any competitors?  Come on over!  We still play basketball in our dining room.

Off to College!

One day they're born, the next day they are grown and leaving for college.
New years day we left to take Ashley to BYU Idaho in Rexburg.  We got lucky and had pretty good roads the whole way there.  I can't believe how much stuff we packed into the car- that girl has lots of stuff!  As you can see they were a little squished in the car!

Savannah and Jake wanted to come too.  But with so much driving and so little time there, we figured Allie would have more fun staying with Dianne & Trent.  She had a blast playing with little Ben.

Fun at the hotel- we HAD to get Bajios take out!  So yummy.

From the snow into the hot tub- crazy kids!

Here's Ashley in her new room at the Tuscany Apartments.  Her apartment has 6 private bedrooms in it and then they all share the kitchen/bath/living room.  She already likes her room mates- that's a good thing!

Crazy posers.  Little room, but cute!

There, the room's all put together.  Can't believe she actually fit all her stuff in there!

It was hard to say goodbye, but  we know we'll see her in April.    It's very strange not having her here.  We miss you and love you Ashaberry!!!!
And yes, Savannah has already moved into her room.

Merry Christmas! I know, a little late

Although it came way to fast, we had a wonderful Christmas!  Somehow we got everything done it time.  Christmas eve day started with making some Christmas cookies, yum!

Goodwins came over for our tradition lasagna dinner and acting out the nativity- always interesting!

The Christmas Eve New P.J.'s Picture!

Christmas morning fun!

Charley's favorite new shirt that Savannah made for him

Look what Santa left!  It's what every family needs in their dining room!  Santa underestimated how long it would take him to put it together, and he was up VERY late!!  But it's been lots of fun!

Another Christmas gone too fast...

We all need a good laugh

Last night as we were driving to Boise, it was almost midnight, I was driving, and Charley had just finally dozed off in the passenger seat.  He'd been giving me crap all night about my driving, being the typical "passenger seat driver".  It was a little scary at times when we hit some ice patches, but we made it through.   So when I looked over and saw that he'd finally relaxed, I got the kids attention and we quietly counted, "one, two, three," and then all screamed as loud as we could. Of course he woke up in shock thinking car crash!  SO FUNNY!!!  He was not amused, but we laughted so hard we cried.  He says we gave him a heart attack, but we just kept laughing.  We all need a good laugh like that once in a while!  If only I had it on video...

A Seattle Christmas

The last weekend before Christmas we did our anual Seattle weekend.  It's so festive this time of year!

Everyone checking out the view from our hotel room

Love the lights!

The Macy's star

And yes, Streetcorner Santa was back!

The gingerbread village in the Sheraton lobby was amazing as usual!  There were very long lines so we waited till late at night and then went down to see them.  (that's why Allie is in her pj's!)

We took our treats to hand out to the homeless again, but some said no, they only wanted money!  Go figure.

Santa Smiles

All I wanted was one good picture with Santa, but Jake and Savannah think they're so funny. They are on Santa's naughty list!

And look, Santa brought Jake a little brother. We named him Ben.

Fall Fun

Here's a few pics from fall-since I feel like it's winter now! Halloween pictures are coming as soon as I can get Charley to put his costume back on so I can take a picture. He was SO funny!

Jake and Ash on Bainbridge Island after a soccer game on a beautiful day

One Saturday in October we went to Port Orchard to ride the Kitsap Live Steamers, a fun ride-on train that takes you on a ride through the forest. They had it decorated for Halloween. We hadn't been there since Jake was little.

Allie, Ben, Dillon, and Zak

Jake pretending to be excited

This was the rainiest soccer game of the year! It was a fun season but I'm ready to stay inside on Saturday's!
