Tulip Festival Day

Last week while Ashley was home for her break between semesters at BYUI, we pulled the other kids out of school and took a little day trip to Mount Vernon to go to the Tulip Festival.  We haven't been there in over 10 years.  Jake wasn't too thrilled about going to a  "flower show", but we had a great time!  We had clouds, rain, and then a beautiful afternoon.   

We started off with a chilly picnic in a park by the river.  Nice face SAVANNAH!

 

Then on to Tulip Town, it was beautiful!

Then ice cream in the Walmart parking lot, yes!

  

We drove home through Widbey Island, another place we haven't gone in years.  I don't know why because it is so amazing up there!  We hit the little ferry to Port Townsend right at sunset.  Perfect end to the day!

 

But wait, there was still time to go to Fort Worden and check out the bunkers in the dark!  Fun day, we need to do this more often.  We have all these places within driving distance to explore.  Time to make a list of summer "must do's". 
It was so great having Ashley here, we miss her!
